D.A.S.H.:
Direct Action by Students in Higher Education is a small
Non Governmental Organisation which carried out mercy missions to
support civilian hospitals, refugees and orphanages in ex-Yugoslavia.
I was a founding member of the charity which received a Red Cross
commendation, and drove on its first convoy giving aid to Croatia,
Serbia and Bosnia. Work included fund-raising, logistics, recruiting,
and obtaining all the relevant paperwork for the vehicles.
I acted as the press officer
for D.A.S.H writing press releases for numerous national papers, and
representing the charity on a BBC radio talk show broadcast live over
a one hour period, including phone-ins. (1993/4)
